pathDave Reynolds Being Named Dublin Minor Football Manager:

Reynolds takes charge of Dublin minors

ST JUDE’S stalwart Dave Reynolds has been appointed Dublin Minor Men’s Football team manager for the forthcoming inter-county season.

Having served as selector in 2021 – a campaign that saw them losing to eventual All-Ireland champions Meath in a provincial decider – Reynolds assumed the reins from Ger Lyons.

A native of Balbriggan and a member of the O’Dwyers GAA club, Lyons has worked as a school teacher in Coláiste Phádraig, Lucan for a number of years.

Reynolds has proven himself to be a ubiquitous presence both on and off the field of play with Jude’s and will now be hoping to guide the Sky Blues to their first Leinster minor title since 2017 – which incidentally was the last time it was played as an Under-18 competition.

There has been a greater focus on the development of young footballers since it switched to its current Under-17 format, however, and this is something that Reynolds will be acutely aware of.

There will be another local face joining him on the minor management team with Ballyfermot De La Salle club man Paul O’Brien one of five selectors to be named for the 2022 season.

Currently employed as their Games Promotion Officer, O’Brien also coached Ballyfermot’s Adult Football League Division Seven side in 2021.

Reynolds, O’Brien and the rest of Dublin’s backroom set-up will be busy putting the class of 2022 through their paces in the next few weeks with a Leinster Championship opener on the horizon against Louth on March 19.

Following that encounter with the Wee County, they will also face Laois (April 2) and Westmeath (April 20).
